TikTok is one of the hottest social media marketing platforms right now.

Marketers who want to reach these younger audiences know that they need to be on TikTok, and a key part of a successful TikTok campaign is to find your way onto the “For You” page (FYP).

So what is the TikTok For You page, how do you get on it, and how do you use it to increase your reach, impact and sales? We’re going to answer all that and more.

What Is TikTok’s “For You” Page?

Immensely popular with Gen Z and Millennial users (which make up 60% of its user base), TikTok is also high intent: 30% of Gen Zs use the platform for researching purchase decisions. And a great way to reach this demographic is on the “For You” page.

The For You page is a personalized feed of videos that TikTok compiles for each user based on the content they’re most likely to watch and interact with.

The FYP also serves as the desktop site’s and the mobile app’s home screen. When TikTok users open the app or visit the website, the FYP is the first thing that they’re going to see:

The FYP can—and often does—include content from accounts you already follow, but it isn’t limited to that. It’s also made up of videos from accounts you’ve potentially never seen. Because of this, TikTok’s FYP is a great way to stay in touch with users who are already following you and to connect with new users who have never heard of you.

How Does the FYP Work?

As mentioned, the FYP is personalized for each user, meaning that TikTok curates a feed of content they think each person would be most likely to enjoy, share, save and engage with.

So how exactly does that work?

If you’re familiar with Facebook’s and Instagram’s algorithm, the idea here is the same. TikTok’s algorithm assesses the different types of content each user interacts with. It looks for the following cues:

  • User interactions on your videos like accounts followed, creators or comments you’ve hidden, videos you’ve favorited, videos you’ve marked as “not interested” or inappropriate, and types of videos that you like, share or watch all the way through to the end
  • Information of the videos you interact with, which includes captions and hashtags, trending sounds and effects, and trending topics in the video
  • Account and device settings, like your country, type of mobile device, categories you’ve selected and the language you speak

TikTok will assess all these factors and then curate a feed on your FYP that should ideally be hyper-relevant to you. This may take a bit of time (typically around a week or so) from when the user first signs up for the app, and it can adapt what it shows you as you change behavior and interests over time.

The FYP isn’t the only way that TikTok beginners can discover your content. There’s a “Discover” section in the app, where you can click on popular hashtags or view videos made with a specific song or audio track:

There’s also a “Suggested accounts” section that shows accounts to follow based on your activity (these accounts are typically very popular on the platform, so it leverages that existing popularity to attract more followers):

Why Is the FYP So Important on TikTok?

If you want to engage in TikTok marketing (and of course you do, because why else would you be reading this post?!), then you need to increase the chance of showing up on users’ FYPs.

The FYP page is hyper-relevant to each individual, at least in theory, meaning that they’re going to happily spend time scrolling through that feed. This can mean a higher engagement rate, i.e. having more of a user’s attention when they come across your content for the first time.

This is ultimately the main discoverability feature that brands can leverage to grow their follower count fast and re-engage existing followers.

How to Optimize Content to Get on the FYP

Now that you understand that TikTok’s FYP is an outstanding way to attract more followers and eventually more customers to your brand, here’s how to get on the For You page.

There’s no secret hashtag to add to your content, and no guaranteed strategy that will land you on every FYP across TikTok’s landscape of users. (I wish!) There are, however, seven reliable tactics you can use to optimize your content to have a better shot of showing up on relevant For You Pages.

Let’s take a look at those seven tactics.

1) Jump on Popular Trends

Even if you’re a complete novice on TikTok, if you spend twenty minutes scrolling, you’ll quickly realize that trends are a major part of the platform.

Trends are made up of popular-right-now audio tracks, which can include music, audio clips from movies or shows, and voiceover narrations. You’ll see countless video all using a single song or track in a similar way.

The trending audio track “The Assignment” by Tay Money, for example, features thousands upon thousands of videos where users list a problem or request, and then lip-sync “I understood the assignment” with their solution:

@thistleandolivesoap I hope the bride 👰‍♀️ approves #soapmaking #weddingfavors #herecomesthebride  #securethebagwell ♬ The Assignment – Tay Money

You can make trends your own, but it’s always a good idea to look what’s popular right now and engage with it. It makes your brand relevant, which can increase your chance at showing up in the FYP.

And here’s a reach-building bonus: Since a chunk of currently trending tracks are featured in the “Discover” section with their own feed, this section can also help you attract followers:

2) Post at Peak Times

Want to get some of that early momentum on your videos so that they can get good engagement and hopefully show up in more FYPs?

Posting at peak times isn’t foolproof, but it can help.

Every account’s “peak posting time” will likely be a little different. To find out when your audience is most active, you’ll need a TikTok Pro account. This will give you detailed analytics that can show you what days of the week your video views were highest. You can use these analytics to assess which days of the week to post, and then start testing different posting times:

Screenshot of TikTok analytics page

All this being said, there are a few general “peak posting times” that can give you a good starting point.

Hootsuite conducted a series of experiments and found that the peak posting time for maximum engagement is Thursday at 7 p.m.:

3) Use Reach-Boosting Hashtags

Hashtags are practically a staple for some social media platforms at this point, and TikTok is no exception.

Hashtags work by giving TikTok some context about what your video is about. They’ll use this as a cue to show your video to the right people in their FYP. It also helps interested people find your content if they search for or view a trending hashtag, which can garner your videos the engagement that can help you get closer to the FYP.

It’s important to note that hashtags are not some instant hack solution. It doesn’t work by finding the most popular hashtags on the platform (which are terms like #meme and #love) and add them to your videos.

Instead, it’s important to find hashtags that can:

  • add contextual clues for TikTok
  • be used by your target audience

Adding #TikTok to all your videos won’t cut it. You need to choose hashtags that are relevant to your video and your audience.

The video below, for example, uses hashtags like #houseplants, #plantmom and #planttiktok while showcasing how to set up a plant stand. It has a decent chance of showing up in the FYP of users who have interacted with gardening or house plant content in the past:

If you need help finding effective hashtags, look at some of the TikTok content in your chosen genre. See what hashtags your competitors and collaborators are using on their videos and consider making a list of any that you think fit your own content.

You can also use hashtag research tools. The website TikTok hashtags.com can show you hashtags related to a specific search term and how many overall posts and views those hashtags have received:

4) Be Creative

Creativity is always going to help draw attention, views and interactions. This is just as true on TikTok as it is on other platforms.

I know this isn’t the most helpful tip in some ways: It’s easy to say “Be creative!” and another to actually do it. But figuring out to create original content that will engage your audience in new ways is always a great strategy.

Here are a few options to help you up your creativity and originality on your TikTok videos:

  • Write down a list of content ideas that you’d like to see as a user
  • If you see other TikTok videos in your space, think about how you’d do it differently and what twist you’d add to it (and then do it!)
  • Opt for creative stylistic choices, such as: don’t just talk to the camera, but add music, frame things in a fun way, and don’t shy away from visual effects

This video is a great example of how to add a little creativity to grab user attention instead of just talking right at the camera (especially with the birthday opening):

5) Keep It Short

TikTok videos can now be up to 10 minutes long… but that doesn’t mean they should be.

Remember that most users are on there to scroll; it’s part of how the TikTok works. If they wanted to sit down in front of a ten-minute how-to video, they’d likely go to YouTube instead.

So focus on short videos that are sure to stop users when they’re scrolling and actually keep them watching the whole way through.

Try to keep most of your TikTok videos under ten seconds.

From personal experience with a variety of clients, 10-15 seconds is the sweet spot for TikTok performance.

The occasional video can go longer, but make it the exception, not the rule. Shorter videos outperform longer ones.

6) Focus on Engagement-Driving Tactics

If you can drive more engagement, your videos have a much better shot of showing up in users’ FYPs. Interactions are a critical part of how the TikTok algorithm works, so finding ways to intentionally boost engagement is key.

Engagement-boosting strategies include the following:

  • Asking users what they’d like to see next
  • Telling users to share an opinion in the comment, like “What’s your favorite side?” or “How would you have handled this?”
  • Intentionally posting “hot takes” that are likely to attract a great deal of comments or shares

7) Offer Value

One of the best strategies you can use to increase your success on TikTok and it’s For You page is to focus on creating valuable content.

I’ll laugh at a funny skit on social media, but I’ll like, save and share content that actually teaches me something. My archives are full of vegan recipes, cleaning tips and dog training strategies because that’s what is valuable to me.

When creating value-focused content, try the following:

  • Answer questions that your customers or followers typically ask online
  • Share inside information, like a little-known secret of your favorite marketing tool or why tapioca starch is the secret ingredient to your brand’s cinnamon rolls
  • Break down information into short tips in the video and then elaborate more in the caption if needed
  • Think about trending topics and share your take
  • Opt for myth-busting contentthis performs incredibly well on TikTok
  • Show users how to complete a specific task with a tutorial included

How to Personalize What You See on TikTok

If you want to quickly change what you’re seeing on TikTok’s FYP, you can take a few intentional actions to shift what appears in your feed. These include the following:

  • Search for content that you want to see (whether that’s #spiderman or #yogaposes) and intentionally watch and like those videos
  • Make sure that your account settings, including location, are accurate
  • Report irrelevant content as “not interesting” to you, which can help remove some of the content that’s already in your feed if you don’t want to see it

Final Thoughts on For You Pages

TikTok’s FYP is a little like the holy grail of TikTok marketing. It can give you insane reach, and if you want to “go viral” (even on a small scale), the FYP makes it easy to do so.

It’s important to remember that nothing you do will guarantee that you show up on the For You page, but taking consistent intentional efforts over a period of time will likely get you closer to that goal.

Keep a close eye on your analytics and take note of which videos are getting good engagement so you can optimize all future campaigns and hopefully increase the odds of showing up in more For You pages.

For You Page FAQS

Still have questions about TikTok’s For You page? We’ve got answers! Check out our FYP FAQ.

Why is my TikTok not getting on the for you page?

If you have a TikTok Pro account, you can see what percentage of users saw your content on their FYP. And you may realize that not many users at all are finding your content there.

If that’s the case, any of the following issues could be at play:

  • You’re struggling with momentum; you need to get initial views and engagement when you post a video, so try to engage with existing followers
  • Your content isn’t connecting with your audience; it’s possible that you’re not using trends that your actual audience is interested in, or you aren’t using them correctly, so try a new approach
  • You could be engaging with outdated trends
  • You’re failing to give TikTok enough context about your videos through hashtags and descriptions, making it hard for them to show your video to the right people

How does TikTok decide what goes on the for you page?

TikTok’s algorithm determines what goes on the FYP. It looks at cues like:

  • What specific users have engaged with in the past, including whether they’ve engaged positively or negatively
  • The user’s settings, like country and language
  • How popular a single video is
  • The information they have about the video

What TikTok hashtags get the most views?

Hashtags can be tricky. You want to choose TikTok hashtags that are relevant to the content that you’re creating and the audience you want to target.

While #love might be immensely more popular than #whitechristmas, the latter is a lot more specific and will help you connect with users you want to reach. Relevance is key here. That being said, you can take a look at some popular TikTok hashtags here.

Where is the for you page on TikTok?

TikTok’s FYP is found on the home screen of both the mobile app and the desktop site. It’s the first thing you see when you open TikTok.

Are you looking for a way to increase Instagram followers and automate your Instagram growth without resorting to bots, spam or fake followers?

In this comprehensive Kicksta review, I’ll be looking at an innovative and unique way to boost the organic growth of your Instagram account by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence — plus good, old-fashioned human curiosity.

Below, I’ll outline how Kicksta makes it easy to increase your social media followers, explain why this is one of the best social media tools we’ve used in a long time, and even weigh up the pros and cons to help you decide whether Kicksta is right for you.

What Is Kicksta and Why Should You Care?

Unless you choose to hire a leading Instagram marketing agency or you’re prepared to risk having your account banned by buying followers, growing your followers and engagement levels on Instagram can take a serious amount of effort.

Typically, you’ll spend hours searching for popular Instagrammers in your niche, liking their photos, and doing your best to engage in conversations in the hope of drawing attention to your own profile.

While that’s certainly a tried-and-tested way to do it, there are probably many other mission-critical tasks that are a better use of your time and energy.

This is where Kicksta comes in.

Kicksta is an Instagram growth tool designed to automate growth and increase followers. It leverages artificial intelligence to accurately target users who are interested in your content, allowing you to expand your reach organically.

Kicksta also provides detailed analytics on how well the service is working for you so that you can adjust your strategy as needed.

By taking advantage of the same kind of artificial intelligence used in influencer marketing, this tool helps you engage with Instagram users who follow other high-profile accounts with the aim of getting those users to check out your profile and hit the follow button.

Dive Deeper: How Artificial Intelligence Is Transforming Influencer Marketing

How Kicksta Works

The whole process of using Kicksta to grow your Instagram account is as simple and intuitive as it could possibly be.

After signing up and picking a pricing plan, you connect your Instagram account to the service.

You can then search for influencers and brands whose content relates to your niche, and then like the posts put out by the people who follow those accounts.

How does this benefit you?

Simple. If you’ve ever had a like or comment on Instagram from a user you don’t recognize, you’ll know all too well how much curiosity can get the better of you and compel you to look at that user’s profile.

Kicksta relies on that very same curiosity that all of us have. When users see that you’ve engaged with their content, some (though not all) of them will head on over to your profile to see what you’re about.

Provided that the profile is full of high-quality content that appeals to those users, they’re likely to hit the follow button to see more of it, and voila! You’ve just gained a new follower.

Repeat this process over and over again and you’ll soon see your follower count start to soar.

Kicksta Key Features

Now that you know what Kicksta is and how it works, let’s dive into the key features of this tool.

Advanced Targeting

At its core, Kicksta enables you to attract new Instagram followers by targeting those who already follow the accounts that you select. These accounts are known as your Instagram targets.

However, if you’re on one of the two Premium plans, you can expand your targeting even further by using advanced filters. This helps you to get on board with emerging Instagram trends, attract new followers who use certain targeted keywords or even target Instagram users in a specific geographical location.

Instagram Blacklist

While Kicksta may be great for casting your net wide and reeling in all kinds of new followers, there may be some followers you don’t want to attract.

For example, you may wish to avoid having the platform’s AI tools engage with your competitors or with individuals who use certain keywords that are at odds with your brand values and identity.

If that’s the case, you’ll be glad to know that Kicksta offers a Blacklist tool so that you can add these “must-avoid” accounts, too. That way, the AI knows not to engage with them and focuses only on those users you’re most interested in attracting.

TSMA Boost

Normally, it would be wrong for any social media growth platform to guarantee that you’ll add a precise number of followers by working with them. After all, most social media marketing success comes down to the quality of your content as well as the popularity of your niche.

Kicksta has found an interesting way around this by partnering with The Social Media Agency, a top-brand agency that represents major Hollywood organizations like the American Film Institute as well as a who’s who of well-known celebrities.

Together, Kicksta and TSMA say they can guarantee you a minimum of at least 850 new followers per month through an add-on called TSMA Growth. This works in a unique way by harnessing the widespread reach of top social media influencers and celebrities.

When you opt in to the plan, TSMA coordinates an exclusive partnership between your brand and a top Instagram user who:

  • has a minimum of 500,000 followers
  • features in the top 1% of the most popular profiles
  • and has a highly engaged audience

Those high-profile social media stars then post a charitable giveaway on their account. To enter, their followers have to follow your account. As an incentive, every user that follows you increases the size of the donation that the influencer makes to a charity while at the same time boosting their chances of winning a lucrative prize.

The company guarantees that if adding you to one giveaway doesn’t land you those 850+ new followers, they’ll simply keep adding you to more giveaways until you reach that number.

24/7 Instagram Growth

Undoubtedly one of the biggest advantages of using a service like Kicksta is that you don’t have to be physically active on the platform for it to work.

Once you’ve connected your account and chosen which Instagram influencers to target, you can turn your device off, go to bed and sleep soundly, safe in the knowledge that the platform is still working to generate new followers for you.

If you’re pressed for time or simply have better things to do, you’ll find a lot to like about Kicksta’s impressive approach to marketing automation.

Related Content: What Is Marketing Automation: Definition, Benefits & Uses

Engagement Rate Calculator

Once you’re logged into the service, you’ll have a lot of tools and search filters at your disposal to help you find the right Instagram accounts to target. But if you already have a few key influencers in mind, you can use the handy free engagement rate calculator to see whether their followers are worth targeting:

Kicksta's Instagram Engagement Calculator

To use it, simply enter the username of any Instagram account. The platform uses a simple equation (dividing the total number of your posts and comments by your number of followers, dividing that number by 10, and multiplying that by 100) to determine their engagement rate.

This can not only help you determine which accounts are the best ones to follow, but can also prove invaluable for determining your own engagement rate, too.

Is Kicksta Safe and Legitimate?

The big concern about using social media tools like Kicksta is that using automation for likes, comments, and followers is a violation of most terms and conditions. This usually applies to accounts that use such tools to flood Instagram with a wealth of activity in a short space of time.

Kicksta simply doesn’t do this.

The service targets a small number of profiles at a time which may mean it takes longer to grow your account with this service than with others. But, according to Kicksta, this means you’re less likely to get banned from Instagram for shady behavior.

Of course, as with using any third-party tool, there’s always the risk that Instagram could see things differently and choose to block your account, so it’s worth exercising caution with these types of tools.

Kicksta Pricing

One thing that disappoints me about Kicksta is that the company does not offer a free trial for you to give their service a test run.  Instead, they offer a 14-day, money-back guarantee if you decide it’s not right for you.

On the plus side, there are no contracts involved here. Although the company charges you on a monthly basis, you can cancel any time you like with no penalties and no fuss.

If you do decide to stick with the service, you can choose from one of the following three plans:

Kicksta Standard Plan – $49/month

Equivalent to $1.63 per day, this plan includes:

  • Target the followers of 10 Instagram accounts
  • Moderate follower growth
  • Free onboarding courses to help you make the most of the service

Kicksta Premium Plan – $99/month

Equivalent to $3.30 per day, the Premium plan includes everything in the standard plan plus:

  • Target the followers of up to 40 Instagram accounts
  • Maximum follower growth rate
  • Blacklist
  • Advanced targeting
  • VIP support via email

Kicksta Premium + TSMA Boost Plan – $218/month

The Boost plan works out to $7.27 per day and includes everything in the Premium plan plus:

  • Guaranteed 850 new followers per month
  • No Instagram login required
  • Premium support via text message (Monday-Friday).

Standard and Premium users can also choose to add the TSMA boost to their plan at any time for $119 per month. Just like the plans themselves, this option can be canceled at any time, making it ideal for accelerating your growth during those months when you have extra budget to play with.

Pros and Cons of Kicksta

Pros:

  • The intuitive, beginner-friendly interface makes it easy to set your Instagram growth on autopilot.
  • Kicksta takes data privacy and account security seriously, so there’s little to no risk of your Instagram account being compromised.
  • The service offers a safer, more legitimate way to grow your Instagram presence without wasting money on paid followers who won’t engage with you and may get you banned.

Cons:

  • Kicksta’s slow-but-steady approach may keep your account on the right side of Instagram’s terms and conditions, but it also means you’ll have to wait a while to start seeing significant results.
  • There is no free trial available.

What Customer Support Is Available?

Although there’s a lot to like about Kicksta, the company’s customer support options certainly aren’t among them.

Standard users only have email support available and it often takes longer than 24 hours to get a response. If your problem isn’t solved at the first point of contact, it could easily take up to a week to get it resolved.

Premium users can access live chat support, though this is only available Monday through Friday, meaning you’ll have to wait until the next work day if a problem arises on the weekend.

Final Verdict: Is Kicksta Worth It?

Having put this popular Instagram growth tool through its paces, I can firmly conclude that Kicksta is certainly a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to enjoy maximum follower growth with minimal effort.

The platform offers an excellent, beginner-friendly user experience, and does get results, even if it takes a little while to do so.

Whether you’re a would-be influencer who is struggling to grow or a business owner with limited time to spend on building up an Instagram following, the effectiveness and ease of use combined with affordable pricing make it worth giving Kicksta a try.

That said, although the company promises that they go to great lengths to stay on Instagram’s good side, using any kind of third-party automation tool to boost your social media presence always comes with at least some small risk that you may get booted from the service for policy violations.

If you’d rather not take that risk but you’re still eager to take advantage of Instagram as a means of boosting your online visibility, check out our guide to using influencer marketing instead.

FAQs About Kicksta

Will Instagram ban me for using Kicksta?

Kicksta has been very careful to ensure that their AI tools only target a small number of posts each day. While that does mean it sometimes takes a while to see significant growth, it also means that their service doesn’t fall foul of Instagram’s terms and conditions.

Are Kicksta followers real?

Yes. Unlike some social media growth platforms that rely on bots, spam accounts and other fake followers, Kicksta targets real users who actively engage on Instagram.

How long does Kicksta take to work?

Kicksta takes 24 hours to authorize setting up your account, after which it begins driving new followers to your account right away. That said, you may need to give it a few weeks to see any significant follower growth.

What Is a YouTube Marketing Agency?

A YouTube marketing agency is a digital marketing firm that specialize in advertising campaigns that help brands stand out on this popular video channel.

Similar to a Facebook, Instagram or TikTok marketing agency, your YouTube advertising team will work with you to create comprehensive strategies specifically for the platform in order to boost your chances of connecting with this online audience and increasing conversions.

More than just a content creation platform for video lovers, YouTube is also a complex search engine with its own set of rules for how content is ranked and displayed. Figuring out how to master the algorithms on YouTube with the right combination of keywords, video thumbnails, and an excellent content schedule can be complex.

This is where YouTube marketing agencies can help you increase CTRs and drive more traffic to your landing page and increase sales.

Essentially, your YouTube agency acts as your secret weapon for success, giving you the expertise, content creation tools, and support you need to thrive on the second most visited site in the world.

What Do YouTube Marketing Firms Do?

The services you get from your YouTube agency will depend on a number of factors. Some companies will offer end-to-end marketing support, which can include everything from helping you create customer personas and target the right audience to tracking your video metrics.

Most of the time, services offered by a YouTube advertising agency will include:

  • Content Creation: Many leading ad agencies will be able to assist you with shooting videos, editing your content for YouTube, and creating accompanying content, like animations, end-video cards, thumbnails, and more.
  • Video Scheduling: Using analytics and insights into your target audience, your ad agency will ensure that your videos go live at the right time to help increase viewer count. They can also assist you in planning a full content calendar.
  • Promotion: YouTube agencies can sometimes help with cross-promoting your videos across a range of other channels, from your websites to social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.
  • Analysis: Working with the analytics available from YouTube and third-party tools, your agency will be able to give you in-depth information about which of your videos achieves the most views and engagement, so you can plan future campaigns more effectively.
  • Consultation: With extensive knowledge of YouTube and the advertising landscape, your agency can offer advice on how to make the most of your ad campaigns and leverage YouTube effectively.

While some agencies will focus exclusively on YouTube, others will offer a range of video creation and content services to cover a host of inbound marketing efforts.

The Benefits of Hiring a YouTube Marketing Agency

People watch an average of 1 billion hours of YouTube videos every day, and there’s endless content out there for your audience to choose from. The key to success with YouTube is figuring out how to not only attract your customers to your videos, but generate ongoing engagement, too.

Just some of the benefits you can expect from an expert YouTube agency include:

  • YouTube Expertise: Owned by Google, the world’s biggest search engine, YouTube has one of the more complex algorithms in the content landscape. Just like Google, YouTube’s algorithms are constantly evolving to make sure that the website delivers the best possible results to its audience. An experienced video marketing agency knows how to optimize your videos for the latest rules and guidelines so you have the best chance of ranking.
  • Creative Support: Coming up with the right content to publish on YouTube and then creating videos that stand out can be difficult. Marketing agencies provide you with the creative support you need to make the right impression online. Some can even help you with shooting, editing and refining your videos.
  • Improved ROI: Marketing agencies use the data collected from each of your YouTube marketing campaigns to determine what the next step should be in your advertising strategy. This means you’re less likely to waste your budget on campaigns that don’t generate results.
  • Guidance and Insights: With years of experience helping companies stand out on YouTube, the right marketing agency can provide valuable advice to business owners. A good team will be able to tell you what kind of YouTube content you should be investing in, when you should be posting online, how often you should be creating new videos and more.
  • Specialist Skills and Software: YouTube marketing professionals have video creation, animation and editing skills you may not have access to with your internal marketing team. These professionals usually also have high-quality software subscriptions which allow them to refine and optimize your videos.

How to Choose a YouTube Marketing Agency

Choosing a YouTube marketing agency isn’t always easy – particularly when there are so many brands out there claiming to offer the best services.

These steps will help you to make the right choice.

Step 1: Decide What You Need from a Marketing Agency

The first step for most companies will be figuring out exactly what you need from your video specialist team. Do you need someone to help with scheduling and monitoring your YouTube videos? Or are you looking for a team that can assist you with something more specific, like animating content?

Make a list of the most essential skills you need from a marketing agency, and what kind of things you can handle in-house. For instance, you may be able to record your videos yourself, but need a professional to add title screens, thumbnails, and SEO before you publish your content online.

Step 2: Prioritize a Bespoke Service

Marketing is rarely a one-size-fits-all job. Every company has their own unique target audience, voice and specific goals. With this in mind, your ideal marketing agency should be committed to learning as much as possible about your company and building a bespoke solution just for you.

In some cases, a great marketing agency may even be able to help you define who your target audience is, build user personas, and use what you learn to reach the right leads. At the very least, a good advertising company should know how to use YouTube’s targeting features on your behalf to ensure that you’re getting the most from your ad placement.

Step 3: Look at the Company’s Case Studies and Previous Clients

Most companies allow case studies and testimonials to do most of the work for them when demonstrating what they’re capable of. If your chosen agency doesn’t have any reviews or testimonials, this could be a red flag or a sign that they’re new to the industry.

SG Case Studies2

When checking case studies, look for examples of the agency solving specific problems for other brands and creating the kind of campaigns you’re interested in for your organization. For instance, are they particularly good at creating in-video or pre-video ads?

Dive Deeper: How to Write a Case Study that Converts Prospective Buyers into Customers

Step 4: Ask About the Tools They Use

YouTube marketing agencies use a host of tools to achieve specific results for their customers. These solutions range from specific video editing software to solutions that help with tracking video posts and building publishing schedules.

Knowing what kind of tools your team uses will give you an idea of what you can expect this business to accomplish on your behalf. If nothing else, your YouTube agency should have a deep knowledge of all the features available for advertising on YouTube, as well as how to optimize your campaigns to drive the right results.

Step 5: Ensure Excellent Communication

Finally, reach out to any business you’re thinking of working with on your YouTube marketing campaigns. The agency you choose to work with needs to be able to communicate regularly and smoothly with your brand, explaining complex topics in a way you can understand.

Look into how frequently your agency is going to keep you updated with important insights into your campaigns and how well they’re doing. Find out how responsive your agency is likely to be if something goes wrong with an ad and you need their help fixing the issue.

TikTok has become the new social media platform of choice for brands worldwide. The reason for this is simple: TikTok has an unquestionable advertising potential.

Companies that advertise on TikTok have found incredible results at lower costs than more mature platforms like Facebook and Google. But given how different it works compared to these latter companies, many brands have chosen to work with TikTok ads agencies to handle their campaigns.

If you are looking to hire a TikTok Ads agency to help you scale your business, this article will explain:

Benefits of Working with a TikTok Advertising Agency

Here are some of the key benefits you’ll enjoy by working with a TikTok Ads agency rather than trying to do it yourself.

Stay on Top of Trends

TikTok is all about trends, more so than any other social media platform. Keeping track of these trends is something that only a power user can do. Most likely, you aren’t one.

A TikTok advertising agency always remains up to date with the latest challenges and trends that will allow your content to strike a chord with your audience. Better yet, they may even help you ride a trend before it blows up. In that case, your content will go viral, bringing you followers and visitors in droves.

Connect with the Right Influencers

Influencers play a big part in creating content on social media. However, this point applies especially to TikTok as business-related content hasn’t taken a stronghold yet, and its user base, Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2012), have a strong dislike for advertising.

Influencers are the gatekeepers that will give you access to a massive, engaged audience without the need to run ads — and may also do it at a much lower cost. The best part is that since the influencer’s audience will see your brand less commercially, they will be more likely to take action: following your brand, visiting your site, buying, and so on.

An agency can help you find, connect and work with the right influencer according to your budget and needs.

Use Every Ad Type Successfully

TikTok offers a wide variety of ads that cater to businesses of all sizes. In-feed ads, which are its most basic ad type, are accessible for most companies as using them doesn’t carry any minimum budget besides the one TikTok uses for every ad group ($50 per day).

However, TikTok also offers unique ad types that aren’t accessible for companies unless you contact its sales team. We’re talking about the branded hashtag challenge, branded takeover, and others.

A TikTok advertising agency can help you connect with the company’s sales team and create a campaign with these unique ad types seamlessly. They can also tell you how to use these ads properly to give you the results your business desires.

Why You Should Advertise on TikTok

As opposed to hiring several in-house experts to run your TikTok ad campaign, it makes a lot of sense to hire an agency to do all the work for you. Here are five benefits of hiring an agency.

Connect with an International & Younger Crowd

TikTok has become the number one social platform of choice for Gen Z, making it the ideal place for brands to communicate with this demographic.

For brands that don’t sell exclusively to young people, it may seem easy to disregard this audience and continue to focus the ad spend on other platforms. However, considering that Gen Z makes up 40% of U.S. consumers (and will be the largest consumer base by 2026), it doesn’t make sense to completely ignore them.

Also, TikTok is particularly strong in emerging markets, especially the Middle East and Southeast Asia, making it an ideal channel if you want to expand your company’s reach internationally:

Stand Out from the Competition

Brands can easily dismiss TikTok considering how fast it has taken over the social media world and its association with dance challenges and other childish content.

Yet TikTok is a true social media powerhouse when it comes to media consumption, with users spending 19.6 hours per month, ranking equally to Facebook and behind YouTube:

The content popular on TikTok is quite different from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube (although they have all copied the former’s format). Known for its shorter format, prevalence of trend-based content and popular songs, your TikTok content will make your brand stand out quickly. And you can repurpose your content for the other social media platforms whose format is similar to TikTok’s.

Diversify Your Marketing Mix

With the increasing advertising costs on Facebook and Google, it never hurts to diversify your marketing portfolio to a new channel such as TikTok. Despite some of the challenges that the company has faced due to its Chinese ownership, so far it has remained unscathed.

What’s more, TikTok is poised to continue its growth at breakneck speed for a few more years, with some specialists stating that it will acquire 1.5 billion users by the end of this year:

In that scenario, TikTok would surpass Instagram, a popular choice among brands with a strong social media presence.

As for its costs, it will depend a lot on your chosen ad type, geographic region, and target audience. Although most are geared towards big brands with large budgets, their in-feed ads shouldn’t be too expensive because TikTok is still quite new as a platform.

How to Choose the Right TikTok Ads Agency

When looking to hire the right advertising agency to run your TikTok ads campaigns, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Creativity

Creating content on TikTok is unlike any other social media platform due to three crucial reasons:

  • Its content is exclusively video-based
  • Its content must engage users quickly
  • Its content must have a native appeal (since Gen Z doesn’t like advertising)

For this reason, TikTok agencies must be highly creative to produce short, engaging videos that don’t look like ads. A cookie-cutter approach won’t make it.

In this sense, TikTok Tok agencies work more like traditional advertising agencies as they excel on creativity over more direct-based marketing approaches used in Facebook and Google.

Versatility

To think that TikTok is all about dance challenges and other frivolous content would be a big mistake. There’s a wide range of content that goes viral; all you need is the capacity to adapt.

Consequently, a TikTok agency must be versatile and create all types of content, whether that is:

  • adapting to a variety of trends (such as sounds and hashtags)
  • hopping into the latest challenge (not just a dance one)
  • collaborating with influencers

Better yet, they must have worked with different companies in various industries, including yours. This is especially important if you are in the software and B2B space, a category that hasn’t dominated the platform yet.

Proven Results

Last but not least, the agency must provide testimonials and case studies that prove their years of social media campaign work. If you can’t find enough information, ask for it. Some companies don’t like to share details publicly but are willing to do so for their leads.

Also, check which brands they’ve worked with and what type of work they did for them. Are they taking a canned approach to their content, or are they customizing their services for each client?

How Much Do TikTok Agencies Charge?

Each TikTok agency uses a pricing structure that best adapts to their services. Some agencies charge a flat monthly project-based fee, whereas others charge based on hourly rates or performance.

The best TikTok marketing agencies we mention in this article charge as follows:

  • The average hourly rate ranges between $25 and $100+
  • The average flat monthly fee is between $5,000 and $50,000

You need to add your ad budget to their fees, which should go as little as $5,000 per month (you can manage a smaller budget, but it wouldn’t make sense to hire an agency in that case).

As always, be sure to ask about prices and costs before you decide to work with an agency. Also, ask for any commissions and bonuses they may charge.

Are You Ready to Get Started Advertising on TikTok?

TikTok advertising is the present and future of paid social media. Despite TikTok’s user base being focused mostly on Gen Z (also known as “centennials”), the power of TikTok ads is undeniable.

Not only can TikTok get your brand closer to over a billion active users from all over the world, but it can also show a different side of your brand that makes it stand out in a crowded industry.

The rise of a new advertising platform like TikTok happens once a decade; that’s why you need to get started before the platform becomes too saturated.

The TikTok agencies in this list can help you kickstart your efforts and reap the benefits of this exciting platform.

As experts in all things Pinterest, these marketing agencies help you to stay on top of common trends as they emerge on this social platform, such as “Idea Pins” and video content. They’ll also be able to support you in the creation of powerful visual content for your boards.

Pinterest agencies can sometimes offer support for Pinterest advertising as part of a comprehensive social media marketing strategy. This may involve creating cross-platform campaigns for your business which spread across Snapchat, Instagram, Pinterest, and Facebook.

While every Pinterest marketing agency is different, most will help with:

  • Conducting market research: Your Pinterest marketing agency will be able to help you understand your target audience and research your competitors for insights into what kind of content you should be sharing. An in-depth evaluation of your target market will make it easier to create a powerful content schedule.
  • Creating pin and board strategies: Top Pinterest marketing agencies know everything there is to know about using different kinds of boards and pins to engage with your audience. They’ll help you to leverage all kinds of different content, from “Idea” pins to videos and infographics, in order to strengthen your position with your target audience.
  • Building organic and paid campaigns: Most social media marketing agencies will help you to create both content for your organic Pinterest campaigns and full ad strategies for any paid campaigns. They’ll show you what your options are for boosting awareness and increasing conversions, and help you track advertising and search results.
  • Research keywords: Keywords can play an important part of making sure you stand out to the right audience on Pinterest. Your agency will help you understand how people are searching for specific pieces of information on their boards. They also help you to track the performance of specific keywords.
  • Managing profiles: Some Pinterest agencies will be able to manage all aspects of your Pinterest profile for you. This will include scheduling and promoting content, responding to comments from customers, and engaging with other people on the platform to build valuable partnerships.

Before working with a Pinterest marketing agency, make sure you take the time to find out exactly what kind of services they offer, and how much support they’re willing to give with things like content creation and scheduling.

The Benefits of Hiring a Pinterest Marketing Agency

Pinterest has a lot of potential benefits for modern brands:

  • Pinterest ads are up to 2.3X cheaper per conversion than other social media ads.
  • 45% of people in the U.S. with a household income over $100,000 per year use Pinterest on a regular basis.

Unfortunately, many companies don’t know how to use Pinterest effectively. The platform is very different from other social media channels and can be difficult to navigate on your own. Working with a Pinterest marketing agency gives you a level of expertise you can use to get the most out of every campaign.

Benefits of working with a Pinterest marketing agency include:

  • Stay on top of the latest trends: Pinterest, like most social media platforms, is constantly rolling out new features to support its users, and new trends are emerging all the time. Lately, we’ve seen a rise in things like live video and Idea pins on Pinterest, for instance. Your advertising agency will help you take full advantage of Pinterest trends when they emerge so you can stay “top of mind” for your target audience.
  • Expert guidance: As mentioned above, Pinterest agencies have excellent insight into how the platform works and what they need to do to take full advantage of it. Most of these agencies will be able to provide extremely valuable guidance on what kind of pins and boards you should be using, how you should be engaging with your customers, and what kind of content you need to produce.
  • Better social media ROI: Pinterest ad agencies can help you better understand your target audience and create campaigns that help you to reach the right people. They’ll be able to refine your ad campaigns to ensure that you stand out from the competition, while still making the right impression on potential prospects. The result should be a better return on investment from your campaigns.
  • Time savings: With a dedicated Pinterest promotional agency focusing on your social media strategy for you, you’ll have more time to concentrate on other parts of growing your business. This can be extremely valuable for business leaders trying to grow at speed. You can even have your agency focus on Pinterest while you work on another aspect of social media marketing.
  • Support with content creation: To have an excellent Pinterest strategy, you need to constantly produce significant amounts of high-quality content. Not every company will have the required graphic artists and specialists on board to create a consistent level of content. With a Pinterest agency, you can get more help producing the kind of campaigns that make a real impact.

How to Choose a Pinterest Marketing Agency

For most companies, the biggest decision to make when choosing a Pinterest marketing agency will be whether you want to work with a full-service brand or a specialist. A full-service social media marketing firm can help with multiple channels at once, while a specialist focuses specifically on Pinterest.

Once you know which direction you’re going to go with your social media advertising, here are some important factors to look for when selecting an agency.

Visual Marketing and Graphic Design Skills

Pinterest is a highly visual platform, although there are occasionally opportunities to share written content here, too. If you want to stand out on Pinterest, you’re going to need a marketing agency with an excellent mastery of visual presentation and graphic design:

Perfect Pinterest Pin

Ideally, your agency will have the skills required to help you create everything from unique images for your campaigns to stunning infographics and videos. It’s worth making sure your agency has all the skills you need before you sign a contract.

Ongoing Training and Awareness of Trends

Pinterest, like most social media platforms, is constantly growing and evolving. As such, if your agency is going to stay ahead of the curve, they need to be committed to constantly upgrading their training and learning new skills. Look for an agency who can show you a full commitment to staying ahead of the trends in the Pinterest landscape.

Aside from staying on top of trends, your agency should also have a good knowledge of the basics required for success on Pinterest, such as an understanding of SEO, and pin types.

Focus on Research, Data and Goals

If you’re investing in a Pinterest marketing agency, you want to see clear evidence that their work is getting results. A good agency should be able to sit down with you, discuss specific goals, and set KPIs for tracking your progress over time.

Look for an agency dedicated to performing extensive research into your target audience, the latest trending pin options, and other metrics. It’s also worth trying to find a Pinterest marketing agency with a strong commitment to transparency with your campaign. They should be able to provide constant insights into your progress with regular reports and dashboards.

Excellent Communication and Experience

Good communication is important when working with any advertising company. You’re investing money in a business that is promising you excellent results. It’s difficult to know whether you’re getting what you’re promised without regular communication.

Make sure you’re able to contact the team you work with about any questions you might have. If possible, look for an agency that shows its expertise constantly by sharing information with you about why they’re using certain campaigns and how they’re going to leverage specific strategies.

An agency with significant experience and good communication skills will make it easier for you to understand your own Pinterest marketing efforts.

How to Choose a Twitter Marketing Agency

Twitter is one of the most valuable tools for businesses building a presence in the digital world. According to a study conducted by Research Now and the Twitter team, around 93% of people who follow small and medium-sized businesses on the platform plan to buy something from them:

Twitter’s success as a social media platform means there are countless companies offering Twitter advertising services today. The question is, how do you choose which to work with?

Some points to consider include:

Their Knowledge of the Platform

Perhaps the most important thing to check when you’re choosing a Twitter advertising agency is their knowledge of the platform. Anyone can say they have a basic understanding of Twitter and how it works, but the right agency should know everything there is to know about sharing both paid and organic content on the channel.

Don’t be afraid to quiz your potential agency on their knowledge and ask them about their experience working on Twitter campaigns in the past. Give bonus points to brands that can show you successful case studies with previous clients.

SG case studies page

The Kind of Content They Create

There are various kind of content that companies and individuals can post to gain the attention of Twitter’s audience. If you want to be able to promote your brand through unique videos, graphics and written content, then you need a marketing agency capable of delivering all those types of media.

Find out whether your chosen company has a graphic artist on board to help with things like infographic creation and other types of images. You might also want to look into whether the company can help you create content for other channels, too.

Their Experience with Brands in Your Industry

Industry knowledge is often extremely useful when working with any digital marketing or social media advertising company. While the agency you choose might not need to have an expert from your industry on board, they should know the specific language you use to connect with your customers, what kind of audience you appeal to, and who your competitors are.

Experience working with other similar brands in your industry will mean your Twitter marketing agency knows what it takes to make a brand like yours stand out on this popular platform. Look for agencies with a background in your sector.

The Kind of Tools They Use

Most social media marketing professionals, including experts on Twitter, will have access to specific tools to help them with things like audience research, analytics and scheduling posts. Access to a wide variety of high-quality tools demonstrates you’re working with a professional brand.

At the very least, your Twitter marketing agency should have access to things like social listening tools to help them track mentions, and analytical systems so they can build visual reports offering insights into your successes.

🚩 Red Flags to Watch Out For 🚩

Watch out for any brand that claims to be an expert in all social media marketing channels, without proof in the form of various case studies and positive testimonials from other clients.

It’s also important to stay away from any social media marketing agency that guarantees a certain number of followers or conversions. No company, no matter how experienced, can guarantee you’ll increase your followers by a certain amount without using underhanded tactics.

Why You Should Hire a Paid Social Media Agency

Now that you what a paid social agency does, let’s dive deeper into why you should consider hiring one to help you out.

Stay Up to Date with the Latest Changes and Trends

Social networks are always changing, adding new features, ad types and regulations, not to mention algorithm tweaks. Keeping updated with these changes requires a lot of time and experience. If that’s not your primary job, it can be overwhelming to keep an eye on new trends, changes and tools.

What’s more, the social networks communicate directly with an exclusive group of advertisers (usually the top agencies) before they launch some of the aforementioned changes to the public (i.e., the smallest advertisers).

Thanks to these special relationships, the top paid social media marketing agencies can test and try out these features, which allows them to stay ahead of the pack. By hiring one of these agencies, your company will outperform its competitors.

Dive Deeper: 7 Dead Simple Social Media Marketing Tactics That Still Work Today

Diversify Your Advertising

Advertisers should avoid putting all their eggs in one basket. Because “traditional” social advertising platforms like Facebook regularly increase their bidding costs or ad policies, it’s always a good idea to try new platforms before they become overly costly or regulated.

Social advertising agencies can help your business diversify your ad budget by testing new rising platforms — one such case is TikTok, which has become the greatest alternative to Instagram and YouTube.

Scale Your Campaigns Effortlessly

Setting up a paid social ad campaign can be a challenge, but with the right processes, it can be done more easily. On the other hand, scaling a campaign while keeping the profits intact is a complicated matter. Many times a highly profitable campaign goes into the red after increasing the budget or bids. In other cases, the target audiences are too small to scale.

A social media advertising company knows how to find these issues before they get out of hand. As a consequence, you will scale your campaigns effortlessly. All you will have to do is increase the budget, and they will take care of the rest.

How to Choose the Best Paid Social Media Agency

The easy part is understanding all the benefits you’ll get by hiring a paid social media firm. The hard part is how to choose not only the best agency for your particular goals, but a reputable one that can get the job done. Here’s what to look for.

Skilled in Content Production

Optimizing for bids and writing ads is great and all, but a crucial part of successful social media marketing campaigns is the content. Without great content, you won’t stand out and engage your audience.

The top paid social media agencies excel at content production. Whether they shoot videos, create pixel-perfect graphics, or work with influencers, these firms can produce persuasive creative ads for any company.

Certified by the Major Social Media Platforms

All the major social platforms give certifications to their top advertisers and media buyers. These courses allow companies to stay up-to-date with the latest changes and learn the best practices that all professionals should follow.

Here’s a shortlist of certifications the top social networks offer:

Google Partner - Single Grain

Check whether your chosen agency is a partner in any social network and the certifications their employees have in order to make sure you hire the right one.

Extensive Case Studies

Case studies showcase the capacity an agency has to deliver the desired results for its clients. More importantly, it shows whom they work with, how they analyze the challenges their clients have, and how they strategize the proper solutions.

Before you decide to work with a paid social media agency, ask for case studies from companies in your space. Pay special attention to their age and relevancy. A company that succeeded in doing Facebook Ads eight years ago doesn’t mean they still know how to deliver results in 2023.

SG case studies page

Similarly, you want to work with an agency seasoned in your industry. The more they know how to communicate with your audience, the easier it will be to craft content and fulfill your campaign’s results.

How Much Do Paid Social Media Agencies Charge?

Paid social media agencies charge clients using the following three methods:

  • Flat fees: Under this structure, an agency charges a flat fee that covers their entire services. The benefit of this option is that you know clearly what you will spend per month. This method is ideal when your spending is small (under $10,000 or so).
  • Project-based: In this case, you pay based on a set of deliverables and objectives. For example, you may pay $1,000 to set up one campaign and another $1,000 to generate a certain number of sales.
  • Ad spending-based: The most common type of pricing structure allows the agency to get a commission on top of the advertising budget. This fee is usually around 10-15% of the overall spending. The benefit is that it aligns the agency with your company’s incentives, which leads to better results.

What Is an Instagram Marketing Agency?

An Instagram marketing agency is a firm specifically focused on helping businesses attract and engage the right audience on this social platform, making them ideal for brands looking to connect with their customers on a visual level.

Instagram marketing agencies assist companies with creating and maintaining ad campaigns through a host of tools specific to this social network. You can work with these firms to design comprehensive Instagram Stories, Reels, videos, and even scheduled Instagram posts.

As with most advertising agencies, Instagram-specific ones can take over all your promotional requirements, from designing and placing ads to scheduling your posts, or they can handle more specific tasks.

Because Instagram is owned by Facebook and the two platforms integrate naturally, it’s common to find Instagram marketing professionals who can also offer a multi-channel approach. This is ideal if you’re looking to spread your social strategy across more than one channel.

What Do Instagram Marketing Agencies Do?

Instagram marketing companies come in a range of shapes and sizes to suit different needs when it comes to social media marketing. Some organizations focus exclusively on Instagram campaigns and nothing else, while others can help you build a cross-channel strategy on Facebook and Instagram.

Although the exact services offered by your chosen agency will differ, the majority of them will work with you on focused campaigns to help you connect with your audience, engage followers, build your online presence, and improve conversions. Some of the services you can expect include:

  • Designing ad campaigns: Instagram agencies can create ad campaigns for pay-per-click advertisements and organic advertising strategies on Instagram. This often involves experimenting with a variety of different content types, including short-form videos like Reels, live videos, standard photos for the Instagram news reel and IGTV content:

  • Scheduling and posting content: Your advertising agency will use analytics and Instagram insights to determine the best times to post your content to get the best results. They can then work with you to build and manage publishing schedules, and may also offer suggestions on when to publish different kinds of content (like Stories or photos).
  • Optimizing inbound marketing: Using Instagram as a crucial tool for content creation, agencies can help drive new traffic and leads back to your website through targeted campaigns. This can improve your inbound marketing results and boost conversions.
  • Audience analysis: Most Instagram agencies will help you to develop a deeper understanding of your target audience. They can work with you on improving your targeting strategies based on the information you collect and help with building user profiles.
  • Creating unique content: Agencies create all kinds of unique content, including copy for your Instagram ads, photos, graphics, and other visuals. They might even be able to help you find people who can voice-over your video or create animations for you.
  • Reporting: The majority of marketing agencies will offer analytical reports to show you the benefits of your promotional campaigns and help you to determine which of your strategies have the best result on your audience.

As mentioned above, many marketing agencies can also align your Instagram strategy with other social campaigns, starting with Facebook.

The Benefits of Hiring an Instagram Advertising Agency

While it’s possible to run Instagram campaigns on your own, it often requires extensive time and investment to really engage and connect with your audience. Hiring an Instagram advertising agency means you can take full advantage of your social media strategy without overwhelming your own marketing team or individual.

By hiring a dedicated Instagram agency, you can leverage these benefits:

  • Help engaging customers: A lot of the work involved with succeeding on Instagram involves actually engaging with your target audience. An agency can help you understand your followers, connect with them through comments and competitions, and build more relevant campaigns:

  • Stay on top of trends: Trends on Instagram are constantly changing, along with what your followers expect to see. An agency ensures that you can keep pace with your competition when it comes to producing cutting-edge content that connects with your audience. They can also help you determine which trends you should follow.
  • Explore different marketing strategies: An Instagram agency can give you a behind-the-scenes look at different social media marketing efforts and how they can influence your brand. For instance, they might help you explore the benefits of using live video on this platform or working with influencers and micro-influencers to improve your image.
  • Access to better insights: Most marketing firms have access to a wide range of tools outside of the standard Instagram Insights platform. This means they can provide deeper insights into your target audience and help you to make informed decision about future advertising campaigns.
  • Expert advice and guidance: Many advertising agencies will be able to offer extra advice on how you can expand your digital marketing strategy and improve your chances of success on Instagram and similar channels. They can even guide you on how to link different channels like Instagram and Facebook more effectively.
  • Consistent content creation: Many companies struggle with consistently producing new content to share on this social network. With an agency, this isn’t a problem. Brands can take advantage of their content creation team to constantly produce up-to-date pieces relevant to their target audience.

Instagram marketing companies can even work alongside your existing marketing team, saving them crucial time and ensuring that they have more scope to focus on the parts of their job they do best.

How to Choose an Instagram Marketing Company

Instagram agencies come in a variety of different flavors, from simple companies who focus exclusively on designing Instagram posts to full-service social media experts. Choosing the right agency for your needs means thinking carefully about the kind of Instagram marketing goals you most want to achieve.

Here are some points to consider when you’re selecting your agency.

Content Creation Skills

Marketing on Instagram often involves the use of a lot of different kinds of content combined to create a specific aesthetic for your brand. The right agency should have a team of experts available that are capable of offering everything from professional photography to graphic design skills.

Make sure your chosen agency can deliver all the content you need to connect with your target audience. This could include video creation specialists, IGTV experts, professionals with a knack for Stories, and even writers who can master your Instagram captions.

Deep Knowledge of the Platform

Perhaps the most obvious thing to look for when choosing an Instagram agency is a clear knowledge of the platform. Instagram has a number of unique features you need to be aware of to get the most out of it, from Instagram Stories to IGTV, and each of these tools require their own distinct strategies.

The right Instagram marketers will know how to leverage multiple content types on the platform to improve your chances of reaching the right audience. They should also be able to help with important extras, like choosing hashtags.

Industry Knowledge

While a deep knowledge of your industry isn’t always crucial to succeeding with Instagram marketing, companies who have worked with brands like yours before can offer additional benefits. If your chosen agency has worked with similar companies in the past, they’ll already have a good idea of what kind of content you need to produce to stand out.

A deeper industry knowledge will help your agency produce the right aesthetic for your brand, capable of highlighting your company as more trustworthy and reputable. They’ll also have more ideas for things like content production and hashtag strategies.

Access to Useful Tools

While many social platforms come with built-in reporting and analytics tools, you can often get deeper insights into your audience and marketplace by using third-party solutions. Most of the top Instagram agencies will have access to powerful tools to help give you the best possible data.

Aside from analytical tools, your agency might also leverage additional software such as Photoshop for enhancing the professional impact of your images, or scheduling software so you can always publish your content at the right time.

Red Flags to Watch Out For

It’s difficult to know exactly what kind of service you’re going to get from your Instagram marketing agency straight away. However, examining each company carefully can sometimes highlight red flags, which may help you to avoid making the wrong decision. Look out for:

  • Limited reviews or case studies: If your company doesn’t have any background working with other companies on Instagram, they can’t prove themselves to you and your brand. Look for evidence that the agency is already successful.
  • Low quality software: If your agency doesn’t have access to crucial tools for video and photo editing, this can damage the appearance of your brand and make it harder to attract followers in the future.
  • Guarantees of follower growth: While Instagram agencies can help you increase your follower count, they can’t guarantee a certain number of followers in a specific time. If an agency gives you such promises, this could indicate they’re using bots and spam techniques.

Ready to Hire the Right Instagram Marketing Agency?

Hiring the right Instagram marketing firm is a great way to give your business an edge over the countless other brands striving to stand out on the platform. With a great agency, you’ll be able to strengthen your position online and attract more customers to your store.

When choosing an Instagram marketing agency, remember to:

  • Focus on access to the right tools, like Photoshops and analytics software
  • Look for evidence of previous successes with social media
  • Ask about their skills with different kinds of Instagram content.

You can even consider asking about the company’s knowledge of features like Instagram Shopping, for increasing potential sales.

Are Twitter ads still worth it in this day and age, or is your ad spend better off being invested in other popular platforms like TikTok, YouTube or Facebook?

It’s a question that’s on many a marketer and business owner’s minds right now as they get set to make 2022 their most successful year yet.

It’s also a question that I’m finally going to answer once and for all in today’s guide as we discuss whether advertising on Twitter remains a relevant and effective way to grow your brand in the coming year.

Understanding Twitter Ads

With 206 million daily active users compared to Facebook’s 1.93 billion and YouTube’s 315.12 million, Twitter may not be the most dominant social media platform, but the fact that it’s generally easier to spread your message via comments and retweets means it still holds plenty of appeal as an advertising platform.

This explains why, in 2020 alone, the company generated 86% of its $3.7 billion in revenue directly from advertising.

How Twitter Ads Compare to Google and Facebook Ads

Of course, Twitter is far from the only platform doing well with advertising.

Google continues to be the undisputed king of this particular realm, with Google Ads having the largest reach. Yet those ads are predominantly text-based and don’t really offer any way to truly engage with audiences beyond having those audiences click through to a website.

Though not quite as large as Google, Facebook Ads offers a happy medium between Google and Twitter, still offering a large reach and detailed targeting along with the ability to advertise using visual content and engage with audiences in real time.

While Twitter doesn’t have the same reach as its two main competitors, it does have a very active audience that tends to be passionate and knowledgeable about the things they’re interested in.

This can make it an effective medium for developing communities and building brand loyalty in a way that other platforms simply don’t afford.

Different Types of Twitter Ads

Twitter also has the advantage that they offer numerous ways to promote content, including:

  • Carousel Ads: Users can swipe through up to six edge-to-edge images or videos in a single tweet and click on to go through to your app download page or landing page. Here’s an example from Gopuff, a delivery service:

  • Takeover Ads: Make your ads the first things people see when they open Twitter with Timeline Takeover or Trend Takeover. You can also place your ads alongside trending topics and conversation starters, ensuring that your brand is always at the forefront of any hot topic. Takeover ads give you exclusive ownership of Twitter’s premium real estate.

Timeline Takeover

  • Amplify Pre-Roll Ads: Featuring your ad as a pre-roll included with popular video content on the platform in a similar fashion to YouTube advertising. According to Twitter, “ads paired with premium video served in-feed deliver 2.2X brand favorability and 1.7X purchase intent compared to the same ads in a non-feed environment.”

  • Video Ads: Have video ads you’re ready to share with the world? Twitter’s video ads option ensures that the right people see those ads at the right time. This is alongside regular sponsored posts, so you have multiple options to choose from when it comes to determining the right way to promote your brand on Twitter.

The Future of Twitter Ads in 2023 and Beyond

The most interesting part is that all of this – all these unique ad formats and engagement options seems to be just the very beginning of what looks to be an exciting time for the development of Twitter ads.

The company’s product team has been continually improving their ad product to better serve both users and advertisers, as well as continuing to adapt to changes and developments in smart device technology.

And they show no signs of slowing down. As the year rolls on, it wouldn’t come as much of a surprise at all to see them introduce even more unique formats, updated optimization models, and new post-install products such as in-app purchase optimization.

5 Reasons Why Twitter Ads Are Still Worth it in 2023

So, now that we understand a little bit more about Twitter ads and how they work, it’s time to consider just some of the reasons why they are still worth it in 2023 and whether the platform is still worth your investment.

If you ask me, I believe that spending on Twitter ads is absolutely worth it. Here are just five reasons why:

1) Twitter Ads Are Cost-Effective

If we’re talking purely monetary figures, it’s no secret that Facebook advertising is typically cheaper than Twitter advertising.

Twitter’s average CPM (Cost Per Million) is around $3.50 compared to Facebook’s $0.59.

That said, this is a false economy since you have to spend significantly more with the Meta-owned platform to get the same kind of engagement and click-through rate (CTR) that you get with Twitter, meaning that Facebook is likely to work out more expensive in the long-run.

Even if we don’t concern ourselves with what other platforms are doing, it’s still worth considering Twitter’s key strength from an advertising perspective:

A highly engaged community of smart people who are already actively getting involved in conversations around your niche, ultimately meaning a greater opportunity to reach more relevant people and get them talking to you and about you.

That kind of Return on Investment (ROI) alone makes Twitter ads a cost-effective approach to growing your brand online.

Dive Deeper: How to Increase Website Traffic through Social Media

2) Twitter Ads Get High Click-Through Rates

As I’ve already discussed, Twitter is not a company to rest on their laurels. They are continually developing their ad products to ensure an optimal experience for both advertisers and end-users alike.

Though carousel ads have been around for a while and remain popular, the company has recently upgraded them so that each image or video within the carousel can have its own unique headline and/or URL, allowing for more targeted advertising.

This has paid dividends for those investing in ad spend on the platform, resulting in a 20% increase in click-through rates across all objectives compared to single asset ads.

Twitter’s unique style of content delivery has allowed it to generate a higher average click-through rate than other platforms.

On average, Twitter ads with links have a CTR of 2%, compared to:

  • 0.72% on Facebook
  • 0.94% on Instagram
  • and just 0.06% on LinkedIn

In other words, if driving more traffic to your website is what’s really important to you, it’s worth spending your ad money here.

3) Twitter Ads Are Effective at Spreading Your Message

One thing that we simply can’t overlook with Twitter is how good it is for getting your message far and wide.

Sure, platforms like Facebook and TikTok may be the bigger platforms, but both rely on algorithms to determine who sees your promoted content and who doesn’t.

With Facebook, in particular, this often means that you get a kind of “walled-garden” effect, where even the most popular posts don’t typically spread very far and the potential to go viral is limited at best.

With Twitter, that’s not the case.

Though you can still use audience-targeting features while setting up your ads as you can with other platforms…

Twitter does a much better job at ensuring that more of the people who follow you and are active on the platform actually see your promoted content.

This means that you’re going to reach more people and, providing you do a good job with your ad, you’re going to get more people liking, commenting and retweeting, sending your ad far and wide beyond your own core audience. So you have a much greater chance of creating viral content that takes on a life of its own and presents opportunities beyond the platform itself.

After all, it wouldn’t be the first time we’ve heard of people generating millions of impressions on their ads one week and being invited to speak on CNBC the next, further raising their profile in a way that you just don’t hear about with regards to advertising on other platforms.

4) Twitter Ads Offer Unique Features

Again, this all comes back to the product team’s hard work in optimizing the ad experience for both advertisers and Twitter users.

The platform offers a number of unique features that can significantly help to improve engagement:

  • One of the main ones is the App button, which takes customers straight to your preferred app store to download your app. If they already have the app installed, clicking on the button will open the app on the customer’s phone, which can be an easy and effective way to get people to check out new features or content.
  • Polls, conversation buttons, and branded hashtags are also great features for getting people talking, while the website button is a simple, solid solution for upping those aforementioned click-throughs.

5) Twitter Ads Are an Untapped Opportunity

It’s no secret that many marketers and advertisers overlook Twitter, focussing instead on the likes of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and, of course, Google.

This ultimately creates a red ocean, an overcrowded market where everyone is competing in the same space, driving up the bid price for specific keywords and lessening the impact of each ad.

With Twitter, what you’ve got is as close to a blue ocean as you’re going to get in the digital advertising space. Though it’s not completely bereft of competition, it is fair to say that there’s nowhere near the same number of competing brands, giving you an untapped opportunity to get out meaningful, effective ads at a cost-efficient price.

Dive Deeper: How Apple’s iOS 14 Release May Affect Your Ads (& What to Do About It)

Twitter Ads and Mobile Advertising

If you’ve read this far, you may be starting to see the benefits of advertising on Twitter, yet still be skeptical after reading all the news surrounding the introduction of Apple’s iOS 14 updates at the tail-end of 2020:

Apple iOS permission to track

If you recall, iOS 14 brought with it a new feature that allows users to opt out of being tracked online by the apps they use. The move caused a furor among some social media companies that rely on tracking to serve targeted ads on their platform.

Though that could have been off-putting to some advertisers, Twitter did at least take steps to ensure that Apple’s new App Tracking Transparency features were not totally disruptive to their advertising products.

In the summer of 2021, the company announced that, while they had delivered opt-in or opt-out prompts to 100% of iOS 14 users, the number of people opting out had been lower than expected. This is certainly reflected in their numbers. In Quarter 3, the company reported revenue growth of  37%, resulting in $1.28 billion in revenue, with even greater numbers expected to be reported by the end of Quarter 4.

Meanwhile, the platform had also extended its support for view-through attribution via the SKAdNetwork to continue to provide some level of reporting to advertisers.

In other words, while iOs 14 may have changed the game somewhat, it certainly hasn’t had much, if any, detrimental impact on Twitter’s ability to deliver relevant and effective ads to users.

The Verdict: Are Twitter Ads Worth It in 2023?

So, with all that being said, what’s the answer? Are Twitter ads still worth it in 2023?

If you ask me, the answer is a resounding yes. Sure, iOS 14 may have impacted things to some degree, but nowhere near to the point that it renders Twitter an ineffective or inappropriate platform in which to invest your advertising spend.

Instead, doing so allows you to tap into an uncrowded market that’s heavy on engagement and light on competition. And that’s just the beginning.

The unique advertising options, high-level of interactions, and helpful features such as App and Website buttons all give Twitter a distinct advantage over many of their competitors in the online advertising space.

Sure, they may not be the cheapest platform to advertise on, but when you consider the kind of click-through rates, interactions, and overall ROI you’re going to get from it, there’s no doubt that yes, Twitter ads are absolutely more than worth it in 2023, and for a good while after that.

Second, YouTube offers several different advertising types you can use to fulfill every goal on your marketing plan. Whether you want to grow your YouTube channel, get more people to your store or increase your sales, YouTube Ads is a great option.

Do you want to know what those ad types are and how to use them? Here’s how to pick the right YouTube ad types for your e-commerce business.

Why Should You Use YouTube Ads?

In short, for e-commerce businesses that use video marketing, advertising on YouTube is a great idea. Just look at the following stats:

  • In 2021, YouTube boasts 1.86 billion users worldwide.
  • In 2020, YouTube’s global advertising revenues amounted to almost $19.77 billion, representing 13% of Google’s total ad revenue.
  • According to Alexa, YouTube is the second most engaging website globally, with a daily average time on site of 19 minutes.
  • In the U.S., 81% of adults use YouTube, making it the most widely used online platform:
graph showing that 81% of adults use YouTube
  • YouTube’s average conversion rate is 14%, 40% more than on Facebook, and many times over compared with every other social media platform:

As for YouTube ad costs, we need to look at pre- and post-COVID-19 data. According to AdStage, during the pandemic the average CPC dropped to $0.49 (in 2019, the average CPC stayed between $2 and $3):

Likewise, the average CPM dropped to $3.53, while the pre-COVID-19 data shows they stayed between $7.50 and $9.60:

This data is focused on the U.S. and averages all the different industries, devices, age groups and genders. Since you probably sell to one specific target audience and outside the U.S. as well, these costs will likely be lower for you, especially if you know how to run a YouTube ads campaign.

YouTube offers highly detailed targeting options that allow you to laser focus your ads to your target audience, including:

  • Demographic groups: Target by age, gender, parental status or household income.
  • Detailed demographics: Target based on broad, shared traits, such as college students, homeowners or new parents.
  • Affinity: Target people whom Google considers most likely to watch and click on your ads.
  • Life events: Target users based on life events, such as moving, getting married or having a child.
  • In-market: Target those who are currently searching for products or services that you offer.
  • Customer Match: Leverage first-party online and offline data to reach customers who have shown interest in your company in the past.
  • Similar audiences: Create an audience similar to your Customer Match segments and who are most likely to take action.
  • Topics: Target specific topics on YouTube and the Google Display Network.
  • Keywords: Some video ad formats allow you to target keywords related to a YouTube video, YouTube channel or type of website.
  • Placements: Target channels, videos, apps, websites or placements within third-party websites.

What Are the Different Types of YouTube Ads?

Now that we know how lucrative YouTube ads can be, let’s take a look at the eight types of YouTube ads.

1) Skippable In-Stream Video Ads

Skippable in-stream ads appear before, during and after a video is played (hence the name “in-stream”). Even though they last up to three minutes, viewers can click an in-stream button and skip the ad after five seconds. These ads show up on every device: desktop web browsers, mobile devices, TV, and game consoles.

Google recommends using skippable ads in:

  • the top of the funnel (awareness)
  • the middle of the funnel (consideration)

However, you can also use them to generate sales with a video action campaign.

When targeting cold audiences at the top of the funnel, Google recommends targeting based on demographic or affinity-based data or through the use of custom audiences. In such a campaign, you will bid based on a Target cost-per-thousand impressions (tCPM) basis. That means Google will get you as many impressions as possible, based on your target bid.

In a consideration campaign, you bid based on a cost-per-view (CPV) model. That means you will pay only when a viewer watches 30 seconds of your video (or the full duration of the video if it’s shorter than 30 seconds) or interacts with your video, whichever comes first. Google doesn’t consider a user clicking on the “Skip Ad” button as an interaction; it counts actions like clicking on a call-to-action overlay, card or companion banner.

For the middle-of-the-funnel campaigns, Google recommends using custom audiences as well as in-market and life events, which are more targeted than the ones used in a top-of-the-funnel campaign:

Unlike non-skippable ads, which you will see in the next subsection, skippable ads are cheaper and less intrusive.

Try skippable ads if you haven’t used any YouTube ads before and you want to test the waters before scaling your budget.

2) Non-Skippable In-Stream Video Ads

Non-skippable video ads appear before, during or after a video and can last up to 20 seconds in length. You can only target desktop and mobile users.

Non-skippable in-stream video ads are ideal at the top of the funnel.

Since viewers are forced to watch the full 20 seconds (four times as much as the minimum time in a skippable video ad), you have more time to talk about your brand or products.

You optimize your bids based on your tCPM, and you use the same audience as explained for the skippable video ads.

3) Bumper Ads

Bumper video ads are non-skippable ads that show up before, during or after a video and last up to six seconds. They are available for desktop and mobile users.

Bumper ads take the best of the previous two ad types, as they are short and can’t be skipped. The ads feature a countdown timer that shows viewers how long the ad will last. Since they are short, viewers have no time to turn their attention to something else.

Advertisers who use bumper ads must create a video that has a strong impact on its viewers. To understand this idea, here’s how Google puts it: broken link

“While bumper ads are short on time, they’re long on impact. We tested over 300 bumper campaigns this year and found that 9 out of 10 drove a significant lift in ad recall.”

Use bumper ads when you want to reach as many people as possible with a short, memorable message.

Since bumper ads use tCPM bidding, they are ideal for top-of-the-funnel campaigns aimed at brand awareness and reach.

4) Discovery Ads

YouTube discovery ads appear on the search results page alongside related videos or on the mobile homepage. The ads consist of a thumbnail image from your video with three lines of surrounding text. Although the exact size and appearance of the ad depending on where it appears, the ad plays on the YouTube watch page or channel home page:

In a sense, discovery ads are similar to the Google search ads, as they appear in between search results and feature an “Ads” tag that distinguishes them from organic results.

Google charges advertisers based on a CPV-based model, making discovery ads ideal for the middle of the funnel: think tutorials, product reviews, comparisons, and the like.

5) Masthead Ads

YouTube Masthead ads appear at the top of the home page and automatically play a muted video for up to 30 seconds.

A Masthead ad appears in a widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) format and shows an information panel to the right, which you can use to show up to two related videos from your channel. To hear the audio, viewers must unmute it by clicking the sound icon. After the autoplay finishes, the masthead defaults to the video thumbnail. When people click on the video or thumbnail, they are taken to the YouTube video watch page.

Masthead ads can only be accessed on a reservation basis through a Google sales representative. Google charges on a CPM basis, which you negotiate based on your budget and campaign impression goals.

Companies use Masthead ads to drive awareness for a new product or service in a short period.

For most e-commerce marketers, Masthead ads will be out of their reach due to their high costs.

6) Outstream Ads

Outstream ads show muted videos on Google video partner sites and are only available for mobile devices:

Outstream ads are ideal for expanding the reach of an ad to mobile users at a relatively low cost. Google charges on a viewable CPM (called “vCPM”), which means you’ll only be charged when someone sees your video play for at least two seconds.

According to Google: “Outstream video ads delivered strong results for our global brand campaign: 30% incremental reach with a 40% lower cost per completed video view and 85% lower CPM.”

If you have found positive results from mobile advertising and you want to extend your audience size, outstream ads are a good option to consider.

7) Display Ads

Display ads appear to the right of your videos and above the video suggestions list. They are only available for desktop and laptop users and come in different sizes and formats, such as images and animations:

Although sound is supported, display ads don’t allow autoplay sound to keep them from interfering with the watch page. Sound is available only when a viewer clicks on the thumbnail.

Display ads are ideal for e-commerce marketers without a budget for video or experience with traditional text-based and/or display ads.

8) Overlay Ads

Overlay ads show semi-transparent banners that appear on the lower 20% portion of a video. These ads can be either text- or video-based and show up after the video starts playing. They are only available for desktop and laptop users.

Overlay ads are not as intrusive as most of the other ads as they don’t interrupt the watching experience. In fact, users can close the ad at any time by clicking a button in the top-right corner of the banner. What’s more, they don’t require the creation of a video ad.

For budget-conscious marketers, overlay ads are an interesting option to try, especially when paired with a proven landing page.

How to Select the Right YouTube Ad Types for Your E-commerce Store

With so many YouTube ad types available, you will surely have a hard time deciding on the best one for your e-commerce business. To help you out, here are the two aspects you should consider:

Consider Your Goal

You want your ads to help you hit your goals, whether that’s getting more followers, visitors or conversions. Google allows for several types of goals in their campaign creation. Three that interest us in promoting an e-commerce store are:

  • Sales: Generate sales for your products. Google optimizes your campaign based on your Target CPA bid, a Smart Bidding strategy that sets bids for you to get as many conversions as possible.

✅ This goal is useful when using custom audiences and similar audiences.

  • Product and brand consideration: Promote relevant products to get viewers to learn about those products and then shop on your website. Google optimizes based on your Maximum CPV, a bidding strategy focused on getting as many viewers as possible.

✅ This goal is ideal when you want to promote a new product or a product with high-profit margins.

  • Brand awareness and reach: Get the most bang for your budget by reaching more users (e.g., bumper ads, skippable in-stream ads, etc.) or by reaching users with a full message (using non-skippable in-stream ads). Google optimizes based on your Target CPM, which gets you as many impressions as possible.

✅ This goal is ideal for targeting cold audiences with broad messages that lead to landing pages (non-product pages) or proven product pages.

Consider Your Budget

When considering your ad type, you need to think about the budget you are willing to invest. To start, you need to spend money on creating the video. Then you have your bidding costs, which vary greatly.

  • For low budgets, non-video ads like overlay and display are better as they don’t require creating any video.
  • On the other extreme, masthead ads are the most expensive but have the highest reach of all.

Your marketing budget and your experience also determine your budget. If you have little experience with YouTube advertising or paid advertising in general, you should start with a low budget option to learn the ropes first. Otherwise, consider outsourcing your campaign creation and management to an agency.
